Bristol Hotels
The unofficial capital of the West of England, Bristol is built around the River Avon and borders the counties of Somerset and Gloucestershire. It was originally a thriving port city, but in more recent years its economy has depended on the creative media, electronics and aerospace industries As well as being a wonderful base from which to explore the West Country, it boasts many of its own attractions, such as Bristol Zoo Gardens, Brunel’s SS Great Britain, the stylish Cabot’s Circus shopping centre, Blue Reef Aquarium, the Arnolfini Gallery, the Bristol Old Vic theatre and the Clifton Suspension Bridge. There’s also a huge range of stylish bars and restaurants to choose from, particularly around the harbourside.
Bristol Airport is situated 11 kilometres south-west of Bristol city centre and offers scheduled flights to major European cities, with a variety of airlines, including Ryanair and Easyjet. There is no train link between the airport and the city, but the Bristol International Flyer coach (services A1 & A2) operates from Bristol Temple Meads railway station, and Bristol Bus station. It takes 30-45 minutes and has a peak-daytime frequency of every 15 minutes.
